Tai Chi Chuan- Private Classes

Secret Yang

The “Secret” Yang form is part of the Yang Tse Michuan Tai Chi Chuan system. The term “Secret” refers to the form’s importance as a family treasure. It was originally only taught to family members and private students. The Long form has 3 sections (Heaven, Earth and Man) and 108 movements and is considered a “Small Frame” form. The stances generally stay within shoulder’s width and tend to have the majority of the weight on the rear leg. The techniques are designed for close range application.
The Lao Yang form is the applications set of the Yang Tse Michuan Tai Chi Chuan. It is also known as the “Usage” or “Yi” form and was taught by the Yang family to only a small number of private students and family members.

Lao Yang’s movements and techniques are a distillation of the 3 part Michuan Long Form and its purpose was to develop the fighting skills of the Yang Michuan system. It has 6 sections, 72 forms and over 200 movements.
The Lao (“Old”) Chen form (also known as Guang Ping) is a Yang family transmission of a Chen family short fighting set. It was first taught and popularized in the United States by Master Kuo Lien Ying (1897-1984). It has 64 forms and includes a mix of small, mid and large frame movements.
